MEET THE FOUNDER
Rooted in experience, driven by compassion
Hi, I am Miriam Lopes Nakasi, a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and the heart behind Careforward Behavioral Health, with over a decade of frontline mental health experience. My journey began as a community case manager supporting individuals with serious mental illness — work that shaped my deep belief in recovery-oriented, person-centered care. I later served as a Registered Nurse at the VA, Mount Auburn Hospital, and McLean Hospital, caring for people across the full spectrum of psychiatric need, from acute crisis to long-term recovery.
Those years gave me an intimate understanding of how much compassionate, consistent care can change a person's life — and how devastating it is when that care is hard to access. Today, I bring that same commitment to every patient at Careforward. My approach is personal, evidence-based, and unhurried — centered on helping adults and older adults manage their symptoms, build resilience, and move forward with confidence towards lives that feel meaningful and full.
